ABOUT US – Sam’s Legacy

For the Love of a Child is a Christian charity and was founded in 2010 by Tom and Donna Jennings following the tragic death of their little boy Samuel.

Sam died suddenly at just five years old from heart failure whilst happily playing at a fruit farm. This tragedy was the catalyst for Tom and Donna to look for ways to bring hope and love into the lives of children and families who have also suffered with trauma, loss and their health and wellbeing.

Donna is a trained drama therapist and has put together a mental health and wellbeing programme called The Listening Stone.  This is designed to be taken into schools so we can work alongside head teachers to help tackle the increasing number of issues our young people are facing.

Our projects abroad have focused on creating safe spaces called Sam’s House, where children can come together draw, paint, sing, hear stories and play.  By creating these spaces it allows the children who have experienced trauma and loss to start to process  what has happened.

CoreValues

We are a Christian charity, and we follow Christs teaching to love our neighbour.  Our faith is what motivates us to support the broken-hearted, through compassion and creativity.

We believe everyone should be free form fear.  We believe the past does not define who you are, and that pain can be turned into a purpose of hope for a better future.

Our projects and programmes are developed with an emphasis on the emotional and mental health and well-being of children and their families.  We are currently fundraising for a new project in Iraq, working in a refugee camp.  The children have suffered significantly, your support can really change lives.

Your support changes lives.
